In 2020, America’s public consciousness awakens from one of the largest social justice movements in the history of the US. Americans had public conversations about racism, legacy of slavery, and other social justice topics. As relatively recent arrivals to America, Asian Pacific Island Desi Americans (APIDA) entered the social justice conversations with many different perspectives given that APIDA come from over forty different countries and hundreds of languages. As the fastest growing ethnic group in the U.S. (in terms of percentages), APIDA needs to engage in the conversation.

The 2021 Spark the Future competition will give participants the opportunity to showcase their understanding of the cultural context of APIDA, relevance of APIDA engagement and develop creative solutions that engage the APIDA community in the conversation of social justice.
