SLKone, Partner & CEO
TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOB.
As a founding partner of SLKone, I help clients navigate through the fog of uncertainty and reach their goals by bridging the gap between strategy and operations. Through management coaching and strategic high stakes consulting, I take visions and turn them into operationalized and executed outcomes.
My representative clients include Fortune 100 companies and a large spectrum of private equity sponsors. They trust me to refine their strategy and make it actionable; prioritize growth initiatives; and improve revenue quality alongside cost base optimization. My deep understanding of business systems and digital landscapes, paired with my Lean Six Sigma background, allows me to uniquely sense and respond to clients' needs holistically, helping them manage change in uncertain environments.
Prior to founding SLKone, I held various positions in several companies, including Partner at Berkeley Research Group (BRG), Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, Practice Leader at Kepner-Tregoe, and Industry Director at SAP AG. Overall I've had 30+ years of experience in industry line management and advisory roles, working in major corporations such as SAP Software Solutions and BHP. In these roles, I've facilitated, coached, led, and partnered with global teams in operations excellence projects, which resulted in breakthrough client successes. Several certifications I've obtained include the Six Sigma Black Belt and Factory Physics and Project Management Trainer.
Prior to my career, I graduated from the Indian institute of Technology (IIT BHU)'s B.Tech Program in Structural Civil Engineering (1983). I also obtained a Masters in Management from the Sasin School of Management, created in partnership by the Kellogg School of Management and Wharton (1998).
WHY IS ENTREPRENEURSHIP IMPORTANT?
Entrepreneurship has provided opportunities for me to not only start a business, but for me to also provide meaningful impact in others' lives. By bringing TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) to Research Triangle Park back in 2010, I've taught finance courses to high school students. As a charter member and Chapter President for The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), I've mentored and coached start-ups. I'm also currently on the Board of Directors for a bio-tech start-up, where I help the C-suite overcome challenges new companies face. These are all just a few examples of how being an entrepreneur has allowed me to give back in unique ways.
WHY SHOULD STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS ATTEND THE FINAL ROUND AT NATIONAL CONFERENCE?
The individuals and teams who chose to compete in SASEtank saw a great opportunity and grasped it. They're ambitious and took the initiative to build out what was merely a concept and developed it into something that they can potentially take it all the way to commercialization.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?
I enjoy building business ideas and catching up with Tom Peters' work. In addition, I share a deep affection for snacking on nuts.
