Shirley is currently a Geotechnical Specialist at American Geotechnical and Environmental Services (AGES), Inc. in Canonsburg, PA. She is pursuing a Geotechnical Engineering M.S. from University of Pittsburgh, where she obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2014. In the future, Shirley hopes to continue a career in geotechnical design as well as work toward improvements in structural health monitoring technology.
Since co-founding and working with the PittSASE chapter, Shirley has expanded her involvement in SASE to the Northeast Regional Team and enjoys the opportunity to work closely with other chapters in the region. Hobbies include playing tennis, swimming, waffling and exploring!
Francine Nieva

Francine graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2016 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering. She is currently working in the GOLD program at Con Edison. Francine has been a member of SASE for the past three years. She served as vice president of the SASE Stevens from 2014-2015. This past year she worked with the Northeast Collegiate team as a regional coordinator in Sub-region B. She is excited to continue working closely with the Northeast region!

Shiv graduated from Boston University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and is currently continuing onto a Ph.D. at Cornell University. He is interested in designing platforms for the development of new and personalized therapeutics. Currently, he is working on creating immune and lymphoma “organoids”, or miniature organs in vitro, to mechanistically understand B cell development and dysfunction. As an undergraduate, Shiv served on BU SASE’s executive board for four years as well as the 2015 Regional Conference Co-Chair. He is proud to have helped BU SASE win the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 Overall Strongest Chapter Inspire awards. Shiv is excited by opportunities to cultivate and collaborate with young leaders to uniquely impact the SASE community. He has therefore expanded his involvement to serve as a RC for the Northeast Regional Team and the head of the WHIAAPI & SASE Jr. initiative. He is excited to continue on to his role as Senior Regional Coordinator and expand on his work with SASE Jr. Outside of SASE and research labs, you can find Shiv staying active, traveling, binging on sitcoms, and rooting for all New York sports teams!
Amy Zhao

Amy recently graduated from Northeastern University, majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Science. Amy has been a part of Northeastern’s SASE chapter for over 2 years. She started out as Corporate Relations chair before becoming Vice President. This past year, she served as one of the Northeast Regional Coordinators. As Program Coordinator, she hopes to continue to help coordinate national and regional initiatives in the Northeast. Currently, Amy is pursuing a rotational program at Henkel Corporation. During her free time, Amy enjoys writing on her food blog and taking Zumba classes.
Jamie Banhalmi

Jamie Banhalmi is a rising 5th year pursuing her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and her masters in Systems Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken NJ. Her past work experience have been in Product Development (Zimmer), Manufacturing and Quality (Mindray) and Performance Improvement (L’Oreal). Her past experience in SASE have included: Fundraising Chair 12-13’, Membership Chair 13-14’, Event Planner 14-15’ and Vice President 15-16’. Jamie is extremely excited to be a part of the Northeast team and serve as one of the Regional Coordinators. She hopes to give back as much as she can to her chapters and further grow SASE’s mission statement. Jamie loves to travel and her goal in life is to visit all 7 continents (She has been to 5). Her other passions and interests include: Healthcare systems, soccer, swimming, cooking and the NY Jets!
Jeff Yu

Jeff graduated from the University of Delaware spring of 2015. He finished with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with minors in Chemistry, Economics, and Environmental Engineering. He currently working at the Department of Defense as a Nuclear Engineer. Jeff joined the then budding UD SASE chapter as a Marketing Committee member before being elected to the Vice President position in the following semester. He then became the President in the Spring of 2015.
Jeff is returning to his role as a Regional Coordinator from the 2016-2017 term. His passion for SASE is rooted in his belief that SASE is not only a great place for professional development but also a platform for interpersonal growth. He hopes to continue to help in the growth of the young leaders of the Northeast. He is also currently involved in the SASE Jr. initiative.
Kerianne Chen

Kerianne is a senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry and French. At the chapter level she has been with Pitt SASE for three years serving as Social Chair, Secretary, and President. Nationally, she has served on the SASEfest National Conference Committee to plan the first ever SASEfest! Her favorite thing about SASE is helping her peers develop themselves in ways that build their skills and confidence! Kerienjoys lifting on the daily and testing her skills as a chef by exploring the world's cuisines.
Lucy Lin

Lucy is rising senior at Binghamton University majoring in Electrical Engineering. She heard about SASE at her university's open house and was interested in the club before starting her college career. She joined SASE her freshman year and saw great potential in the club. After realizing she could help revitalize it, she joined the executive board her sophomore year as treasurer and then became the president of her chapter her junior year. Lucy looks forward to helping out chapters reach new goals and develop the leaders of tomorrow! Aside from SASE, Lucy loves exploring new places and hiking. She is a big foodie and her favorite show is Grey's Anatomy.
Rahul Daftari

Rahul is a senior at Boston University majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Philosophy and concentration in Technology Innovation. During his involvement with the BU Chapter of SASE, he has served as the Membership Chair, President, and Northeast Regional Conference Co-Chair. Rahul has helped host one SASE’s largest regional conferences up-to- date, worked with the BU SASE team to win two Overall Strongest Chapter Awards, and founded a Pan-Asian mentorship program at BU in the past year with a 100+ student membership. As a Regional Coordinator, Rahul is excited to impact the Northeast region to catalyze the growth of SASE as a collegiate, regional, and national organization. In addition to his involvement with SASE, Rahul is also a Resident Assistant on campus and competes as a debater within the American Parliamentary Debate Association. He is also an avid runner and enjoys photography and politics.
Sejal Mistry

Sejal Mistry is a senior at Rutgers University, majoring in Biomathematics and minoring in Professional Development and Outreach. She is a co-founder of Rutgers SASE and has served as Internal Vice President and subsequently President of the chapter. Additionally, Sejal was a National Conference Programming volunteer and is currently the SASEBowl Conference Coordinator. In the future, Sejal hopes to become a Physician-Scientist focusing on statistical models in personalized and precision medicine to develop new therapies for children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Outside of SASE and research labs, Sejal is an adaptive aquatics volunteer at the local children's hospital, an avid New York Giants fan, and a huge foodie!
Omer Bakshi

Omer Bakshi is a recent graduate from Clarkson University with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, serving in his second year as a Northeast RMR. Currently living in Pittsburgh as a Federal Project Manager for the US Department of Energy, Omer enjoys traveling, trying new foods, playing recreational ultimate, and Netflix-ing. You can also probably find him in a city near-you, as he's trying to capture as many cityscapes as he can!

After graduating Carnegie Mellon University with a chemistry degree and crossing off items on her travel bucket list, Reyna ended up in Cincinnati, OH as a researcher for P&G. She works primarily with Febreze, where her job challenges her to make 'scents' of things. When she isn't making puns, she spends her time attending random local events she found on Facebook, making lists, and/or trying out new hobbies. Having been involved as a leader in her collegiate chapter, she is excited to further her SASE career as an RMR and to continue helping SASE grow to be succ-SASE-ful.
